Mele Nani Getaway in lovely Volcano, Hawaii

Mele Nani in Volcano, Hawaii is our sweet two bedroom, one full bathroom vacation home. Our favorite spot is the hanging lounger on the covered, front lanai. Gently rock to the bird song all around while sipping your morning coffee. We offer a small wood burning fireplace for chilly evenings. The living room has a comfy sofa, chair, flat screen TV for streaming your favorite channels and free WiFi. Our custom kitchen is full of appliances, cookware and dishes for cooking local produce til your heart's content. The full bathroom has a bathtub and shower combo that we stock with a starter supply of soaps, detergents, and paper products for our guests.

Please note: Some mapping software shows the correct location but indicates that the address is in Kailua-Kona. IT IS NOT. The house is in Volcano near the National Park entrance.

Located in the Ohia Estates neighborhood, Mele Nani, is less than a 10 minute drive to the famed Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and about a 40 minute drive into Hilo. We provide local recommendations (Things To Do and Restaurants!) in a binder located in the home. Volcano Village has a few wonderful restaurants and fantastic galleries. Within an hour's drive you can experience dashing waterfalls, craggy hikes around dormant volcanoes, daring ocean cliff outlooks, vibrant cultural shops and restaurants, and most of the world's varied climate zones. We recommend staying at least a week and packing light layers and sturdy shoes to get the full 'Big Island' adventure. E komo mai (welcome)!

What to Bring: Volcano can be chilly at night and when it rains so pack a few long layers and sturdy hiking shoes to maximize your enjoyment of our location! We stock fire wood and a starter supply of essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, detergent and soaps. While we do not stock shampoo, sunscreen, or bug repellant there may be some left by previous guests that you're welcome to use.

  Lovely little house with plenty of elbow room for our group of 3. We spent most of our time exploring the Park, so weren't able to take full advantage of the swing on the lanai. Nice kitchen made it easy to cook breakfasts and dinner. A few ideas for improvement: We were only given 1 dish towel for the visit, so I would suggest that they supply a few more. We also needed the spare tp roll from a drawer next to the sink and it was wet, so possibly some leakage from the faucet? These are small things in the big picture, because you're in Hawaii!

We do supply a limited amount of towels to help keep cleaning costs reasonable. However, we do supply a washer and dryer so guests can launder any items they would like to during their stay.   Mele Nani Getaway was charming with a lovely, spotlessly clean kitchen, a comfortable queen bed and a spacious porch. The full sized washer and drier were outside the house in a well-lighted and easily accessed closet. The frogs singing in the yard at night were very soothing and peaceful. Excellent dining in Volcano was a short drive away and it was just minutes to the entrance to Volcano National Park. The Volcano Winery was very close also (and really unusual and fun!) Mele Nai Getaway was a perfect home base to explore the area!

  Thank you for your allowing us to stay at a beautiful place. The birds provided a beautiful sounds of music on the lanai in the morning sipping a hot beverage before leaving for the day, in the afternoon while eating a light lunch after a day of excursions and before hitting the road for the afternoon activities & in the evening while eating dinner the sound & feel of the breeze, the night's creature sounds was even soothing. Our Concierge was a delight & accommodated our needs & wants, the Housekeepers were excellent cleaners & orderly staff. The amenities were was perfect for making meals, washing clothes, entertainment section (tv, music & board games) was helpful, but peace & serenity was the call of the trip. Sleeping for 12 hours is unknown in Honolulu, so took advantage of it. 5 star plus! Mahalo nui & a hui hou! (Thanks a lot & see you again!)

  We loved our stay in the house. It was very clean when we arrived plus some thoughtful touches in the décor and starter amenities and the kitchen was well-stocked. The host was communicative up through the check-in day, and although I did have questions with the check-in instructions, the host answered promptly and the instructions ended up being accurate. Super convenient location off of the main road and perfect for exploring this section of the Big Island. We would stay here again!
