Zuki House

Zuki House is a modern and elegant vacation rental close to the ocean. Enjoy our ocean view balcony upstairs outside the main bedroom suite. Our high ceilings and bright, modern furnishings give you comfort and style to enjoy throughout your stay. Experience the inspiring nature of Hawaii Island including volcanoes, dashing waterfalls, colorful botanical gardens and lush jungles. Enjoy local restaurants from a variety of cultures including 'local' comfort food, Thai, Japanese (sushi), Chinese, Vietnamese and so much more.

Zuki House occupancy is 5 guests. We have three bedrooms, one with a king bed, one with a queen bed, and one with a full bed. There are two full bathrooms. One bedroom and bathroom is upstairs in the loft with a balcony lanai with ocean views. On the main floor are the other two bedrooms, full bathroom, kitchen, dining area, living room and covered wrap around lanai. Enjoy the ocean sound and breezes from the outside. The yard is nicely manicured and our hot tub is perfect for star gazing at night. There's a nice outdoor shower too.

Located in Pahoa on the east side of Hawaii Island, Zuki House is close to the newest black sand beach on the island, created by the 2018 lava flows. Pohoiki is an amazing site to drive to through cooled lava fields about a 30 minute drive from Zuki House. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is about a 45 minute drive and the Pahoa Lava Museum is about a 10 minute drive.

• Quiet Home by Turbulent Ocean!

  The house was easy to find and in a nice and quiet area of the big island. The house had everything we needed, extra towels, shampoo etc and other essentials which we appreciated because another rental we stayed in on Kauai had nothing provided! The deck was lovely for morning coffee and we used the hot tub a couple of times. Walking to the ocean was wonderful but there is not a beach, just black lava rock cliffs so you cannot swim or get in the water here but it’s beautiful to watch the waves break. The house is far from any shops and Pahoa is super run down and not visitor friendly at all. We went to one place for breakfast which was delicious but we all agreed we wouldn’t visit this island again. It rained every afternoon which we didn’t really mind and we visited in March so this might be seasonal. The house itself was wonderful the only weird thing was the cameras outside, one faces the outdoor shower, a bit strange. Not sure if crime is an issue but I’ve never stayed somewhere with security cameras before.

This area is one of the few places in Hawaii that remains untouched by big money developers and resort hotels. Compared to the more fancy places in Hawaii I can see how it might not compare, but many guests and those of us who live here find it quaint and charming :-) We are very visitor friendly. The tiny restaurants, farmers markets, and boutiques here rely on visitors just as much as the resort areas do. But we understand that the "old Hawaii" vibe might not be for everybody. Mahalo for reminding us about the old security cameras. There are a few on the property that have been there for ages and are not hooked up to anything. We'll make a work order so our handyman can remove them. Take care and we wish you all the best in your future travels!   Terrific place to stay. The owner lives next door and is very helpful. The living area was very enjoyable. I enjoyed reading on the back porch in the warm Hawaiian breeze. Perfect!
  The only drawback was the first floor bedroom did not have a queen size bed as noted. The master bedroom in the loft is great, but there is little privacy from the people downstairs. This is better for one couple or a small family.

  This home is in a neighborhood that is somewhat off of the beaten tourist path, we truly enjoyed a taste of the local life! The house was extremely clean and well-stocked with everything we could have wanted. The furniture and decor are simple yet adequate, everything is just as pictured. The evenings inside the home got a little sticky without air conditioning (our stay was in mid July with gorgeous 80 degree weather during the day!) but there was usually enough of a breeze that it was not uncomfortable. We really appreciated the portable AC unit in the loft. I the frogs in the sound of the rain forest load us to sleep every night. The hot tub was much enjoyed, we just turned the temp down. We LOVED drinking our coffee and watching the sunrise over the ocean, incredible views from only a block away and from the upper deck as well. Continue on past this house and you can take a lovely walk down government beach road with beautiful views of the water as well as the tropical forest. It was a quick 10-15 minute drive to restaurants and groceries. Altogether an amazing place for exploring this side of the island if you do not mind doing a little driving. Thank you for sharing your home!! We would definitely love to return to this little slice of heaven someday!!

  Excellent house for exploring the eastern side of Big Island. We were planning to just day trip from Kona, but at the last minute found Zuki house and we are so glad we did. Lovely property with modern bathrooms, large deck and hot tub. We BBQd and enjoyed the sounds of the tropics. House is close to other properties but still feels private. Stayed in December/Jan 2023 and the weather was perfect - a gentle warm breeze. House has new and effective ceiling fans which kept us cool at night. Property was also spotlessly clean.
