Lokelani Jungle Hideaway

Lokelani Jungle Hideaway presents a unique opportunity to stay in a verdant jungle setting within an hour drive of Kilauea Volcano, Hilo Town (30 minutes), Pahoa Town (15 minutes) and many of the famous sites of Hawai'i's Big Island. Let this lovely spot be your home away from home as you explore, relax, rejuvenate!

The Hideaway has a comfortable screened in lanai with lounge furniture to get the feeling of living outdoors without the bugs! The one acre is landscaped with an abundant, jungle vibe including many flowering plants, palm trees and a sweet little pond. The open living spaces include a full kitchen, living room and a nice dining area. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main bedroom has a king sized bed, air conditioning and ensuite full bathroom with shower and bathtub. The second bedroom has a full sized bed, ceiling fan, and slider door to the gardens. The third bedroom has a queen size bed, ceiling fan and door to the gardens. In the main living area is also a desk and chair in case you need to work. The living room and main bedroom each have a small AC unit to take the humidity levels down (but will not provide a refrigerator-cool in the whole house). There is a laundry room and covered parking spot as well. You have the entire one acre property to yourselves... just share with the neighborhood chickens, polliwogs in our pond and of course the Coqui frogs singing at night!

Keaau, Hawaii and Hawaiian Paradise Park are located 10 miles south of Hilo and about 5 miles north of Pahoa. Keaau Town has a grocery store, gas and a few restaurants about a 12 minute drive from The Hideaway. We have an informative House Book in the Hideaway to tell you about local sites, beaches nearby and our favorite places to eat. E Komo Mai!

  We would not recommend this place. Although a cute little set up in the jungle, this house had a lot of issues. It was very musty and damp - even with the fans going the smell was very set in the house. The Internet was turned off without letting us know. They kindly refunded us a dismal $100. Not much in terms of cooking utensils or even enough even mugs. We felt it was overpriced for the conditions.

  We enjoyed our stay at this property. The home was clean and provided everything we needed to enjoy our week. The croqui frogs sang us to sleep at night and the rooster woke us up in the morning. We also saw a few wild pigs on the property. The location was good. You were close enough to town to take advantage of restaurants and activities yet felt very secluded when at the home.

  We really enjoyed our stay at the Jungle Hideaway. One of our family members did not feel well one day so we spent a whole day at the jungle Hideaway. We explored the ground and found frogs, unique birds and wild hogs as well as many tropical bushes. The Tv has Roku so you can watch movies and the house has a great Air conditioner in which we really did not need much. The outside air temps there were cool most of the time. I Thank the owner for sharing this awesome clean property with us. When I come to Hilo I will definitely stay at the Lokelani Jungle Hide AWAY.

  Home was very comfortable and well equipped. Well set up for two people to work online. The protective carport was very useful. Having AC was great.   The Lokelani Jungle Hideaway was beautiful inside and out! It was well stocked with everything that we needed in the kitchen and bathrooms. The beds were comfortable and the furniture was nice. Everything was very clean. The AC was nice to have because it was hot when we got back from our daily adventures. The gardens were amazing! I would definitely stay here again. The location was private and an easy drive to Hilo or to VNP, about 20 minutes from each. We flew out of Kona and it took us about 2 hours to get there. The house was exactly as it is shown in the pictures. Very well maintained. Thanks for the great stay!

  My husband, myself and 3 children enjoyed our stay at the Lokelani Jungle Hideaway. The home was easy to find from the airport. Shawna was our point of contact and she was wonderful. She responded to my every text. Once on the property my children where out on an adventure exploring the forest grounds. Although we were surrounded by "jungle" neighbors were close enough to help me feel safe. The home was VERY clean and housed practically everything we needed to cook, clean and wash clothes, beach toys and coolers, and towels. At night pigs wandered about right outside our door; at first this made me nervous, but it excited my children and made their stay even better. I loved the sliding glass doors in every room; it gave us a clear view of the beautiful outdoor surrounding. I enjoyed the literature inside the home to guide our activities. The location was central to everything we wanted to see in Hilo so it fit our needs perfectly. Mahalo until next time. :)

  Overall the house is clean and decorated very cute. Bed was comfortable and I loved the tiles in the second bath. Coqui frogs were pretty loud. If you like to watch local news like we do, not possible as tv is streaming only. Great place for privacy and the gardens were beautiful, lush and fragrant. To me it was fine for a few days as we spent most of our time site seeing. For a longer stay I would want maybe a hot tub, be closer to shoreline or bicycles and a grill. Not

  This house is very tropical situated on an acre of gorgeous landscaped property. We loved having all the beautiful plants and trees around us! The house is large and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is nice and spacious to cook in. Large screened in lanai lets you feel like you are out in the forest. We really enjoyed our stay in this rental for the Hilo side of our trip. We took day trips to the waterfalls and to see the volcano ��. We were extremely impressed with this rental house and would definitely recommend it to anyone!

  This was secluded, and very private. All the sounds of being away from the city. YEs Coqui frogs at night. Suggets ear plugs for the very sensitive. Shawn and the team at Salt Water were fantastic. Responsive, polite, and obviously professional. the house was spotless with many small touches of a high end operation. The AC works well and was needed only at bedtime to keep windows closed.
